Johnny Depp admitted to spending $30,000 a month on wine and doing drugs with musician Marilyn Manson and 'Avengers' star Paul Bettany, but made it clear it never resulted in abuse towards ex-wife Amber Heard.
According to multiple reports, Johnny Depp was grilled under cross-examination during the ongoing trial in the UK, about his alcohol and drug abuse -- including questions about some of his famous party pals.
At one point during today's proceeding, Depp admitted he had been spending more than $30,000 a month on wine before he checked himself into rehab.
“Yes, I drank to excess but drinking to great excess doesn’t mean that you are out of control … Violence is not something I go looking for," Depp said on the stand.

The 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' star said he avoided any confrontations with Amber, recalling, "Whenever these situations would escalate, I would try and go to my own corner. I wanted to separate before things got out of hand.”
During the hearing, Johnny was questioned by attornies for the UK tabloid he is suing for defamation after they claimed he was a 'wife beater' in an article. One lawyer questioned Depp about his drug use and confirmed he "did every kind of drugs there were by the age of 14."
The 'Pirates' star described taking drugs initially because "it was there" and because "it was the only thing I found to numb the pain."
Depp continued, "at a very young age, when it was not a particularly stable or secure or safe home life, and there was quite a lot of unpleasantness in the house. My mother used to ask me to go and get her “nerve pills” and I think I was around the age of 11 that it dawned on me that “nerve pills” were calming her nerves, so I brought her her nerve pills and I took one and that began [the drug use].’

At one point, Depp was asked to confirm the list of hard drugs he had consumed over the years and it included "cocaine, ecstasy, LSD, mushrooms, and cannabis." The actor denied using ketamine.
Lawyers for the UK media outlet attempted to paint a picture of the actor expressing his anger by 'trashing' hotel rooms and having exploding on an ex-girlfriend.
The attorney took him through one incident were she claimed he did almost $10,000 of damage to a New York hotel room.
“I don’t know the exact amount of damage,” Depp responded. Adding, “I made a few dents. Yes.”
He explained the incident was following the culmination of a “particularly bad couple of days”, saying he had “been screwed over by a friend”.
He contiuned, "I was angry. That didn’t mean I had an anger problem. On that occasion, I chose to express my anger.”

At one point, the lawyer questioned Depp about his associations with famous stars such as Marilyn Manson, Hunter S. Thompson, Keith Richards, and fellow actor 'Avengers' star Paul Bettany.
Johnny responded that these were his 'wonderful friends' and confirmed he had taken drugs with Marilyn Monson "twice maybe, many years ago." He was adamant the partying was NOT during his relationship with Amber Heard.
The attorney also referred to Paul Bettany as one of Depp's "drug buddies" and asked the actor if he "would supply Paul Bettany with whatever medication of controlled drugs he asked for, is that right?"
Johnny responded, "If he was feeling anxious or he was feeling unpleasant, I would give him what he asked for."
He continued, "Paul Bettany is an actor that I’ve worked with several times, he is a friend and we have… yes, we have dabbled in drugs together."
The lawyer pressed further saying, "You would give him cocaine?" to which Johnny replied, "Yes, ma'am."
Johnny listed cocaine, alcohol, Xanax, and Adderall as drugs the two had taken together at some point in time.

The line of questioning was clear that the lawyers were trying to establish Johnny's use of drugs and alcohol, fueled several violent incidents including with ex-wife Amber Heard.
But, Depp has been open about his struggles with addiction, and claimed he has never been abusive towards Amber, and claimed she is the one who assaulted him.
In today's first day of trial, several explosive moments have already made headlines, including Depp's allegation that Heard pooped in their bed and it was the final straw in their marriage ending.
As we reported, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard will face off for the next three weeks in a UK courtroom.
