John Travolta's wife, actress Kelly Preston, has died at the age of 57 after suffering from breast cancer.
According to multiple reports, the 'Jerry Maguire' star was quietly suffering from breast cancer for over two years and passed away today after battling the disease.
"On the morning of July 12, 2020, Kelly Preston, adored wife and mother, passed away following a two-year battle with breast cancer. Choosing to keep her fight private, she had been undergoing medical treatment for some time, supported by her closest family and friends," a spokesperson for the Travolta said in a statement on Sunday.
Kelly and John's son Jett died at age 16 in January of 2009.
"She was a bright, beautiful and loving soul who cared deeply about others and who brought life to everything she touched. Her family asks for your understanding of their need for privacy at this time," the family representative told People.com.
Kelly Preston was a famous actress in her own right, starring in such films as Space Camp, For The Love Of The Game, and Jerry Maguire. In 2018, Preston starred alongside her husband in the film 'Gotti' where she played the mafia bosses wife, Victoria Gotti.
The death comes as a bit of a shock to most of Kelly and John's fans who were unaware she was privately suffering from the disease. Also, the family was not public about the treatment Kelly was receiving.
Interestingly, in 2019 Kelly was open about her son Jett's struggles with Autism and on what would have been his 27th birthday shared a touching photograph of her son laying with his two parents in their bed.
“To my sweet love, Jett… you are in our hearts forever,” she wrote in the caption.
She added, “I send love to all of the beautiful autistic children and the wonderful people who love them. May we all shine and grant love and respect to children with special needs?”
Preston is survived by husband actor John Travolta, and children Ella (20) and Benjamin (9).
