John Singleton's Daughter Disputes His Mother's Claim He's in a Coma: 'My Dad Is Progressing Every Day'

John Singleton's daughter paints a very different picture of the director's medical condition and is disputing his mother's characterization of his health and wants her petition to be named special conservator to be denied.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Cleopatra Singleton, a sophomore in college, claims her "father is not in a coma." She says he is "progressing every day" and could be "out of the ICU in 5 days."
Cleopatra says John is breathing on his own and "is only medically sedated to keep his blood pressure low and allow the vessels in his brain to heal." She says he is responsive to stimuli and "has even smiled on many occasions."
In her declaration, Cleopatra makes another point — she believes her grandmother, Sheila Ward, should not be named conservator over Singleton's estate and person. She claims there is a conflict of interest (Ward is Singelton's personal and business manager) and believes there should be different and separate conservators for each aspect of his life. Cleopatra suggests her grandfather and brother.
Cleopatra says Ward has "abused" her position as Singleton's manager and has "stated she plans to liquidate his assets immediately and leave his children with nothing."
As The Blast previously reported, Ward filed documents asking be named conservator over John Singleton, claiming he "suffered a major stroke" and was "currently hospitalized in a coma and is unable to provide for his personal needs.”
A judge has yet to rule.
