John Singleton will be remembered for much more than “Boyz n the Hood,” as celebrities honor the director for all his contributions to film and culture.
“He had more drive then anybody I’ve ever met,” Chris Rock said after hearing the director had passed. Snoop Dogg added, “Thank you for all that you gave to the world the movies the messages the opportunities to so many people like myself to grace the big screen in a major role with major black actors.”
Many celebrities are showing love for Singleton, who regularly supported up and comers in the industry and gave many stars their first taste of success.
Nick Cannon shared a photo from their last meeting and said, “I sensed something was up, you took the time to come out and support me and whispered some power wisdom and words of encouragement in my ear.”
“Us” director Jordan Peele also voiced his admiration for Singleton, writing, “So sad to hear. John was a brave artist and a true inspiration. His vision changed everything.”
As we reported, Singleton was taken off life support Monday morning and passed away shortly after.
