The WWE star was in Las Vegas on Wednesday night promoting the “Transformers” spinoff movie “BumbleBee” at CinemaCon, when he was asked about the couple ending their engagement.
"The split's tough," Cena told the AP. "I love Nicole with all my heart and the split is very tough."
But Cena is keeping his head up, adding, "It's a tough time, but that's life — we all go through highs, we all go through lows. I'm going to get through it, I love her, I'll always love her. The fact that my heart hurts for her, I know I was in love. So I'll always have that."
The couple announced their break-up on April 15, putting an end to their engagement. They said in a statement, “While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.”
Us Weekly was the first to report the split.
The couple was together for six years and Cena proposed to Bella last year at Wrestlemania.
As recently as earlier this month, looked insanely in love as they walked the red carpet together for the premiere of Cena’s movie, “Blockers.”
