Jessica Simpson won't stand for body shaming and is sticking up for herself against an ex-Vogue staffer who claimed that the singer's breasts "fell out" during the Met Gala years ago. The 39-year-old star shot down Sally Singer's recount of the 2007 party in which she accused Simpson of letting her boobs hang out all over their dinner table and allowing her boyfriend at the time John Mayer to grope her in front of everyone. In a new article posted by Vogue on Tuesday titled, "An Oral History of the World’s Most Glamorous Gala," several former attendees divulged their secrets from past Met Galas, and the fashionista took offense to what the former Vogue creative digital director had to say.

Taking a stand against Sally Singer, the fashionista compared herself to Jayne Mansfield by posting the famous shot where Sophia Loren was caught mean-mugging her ample cleavage. Sharing the 1957 throwback picture of the actresses, Jessica Simpson hit back by writing, "Feeling a little like Jayne Mansfield after reading this (inaccurate!) oral history of the #MetBall where I am body shamed by #SallySinger." Admitting that she has also body-shamed herself her whole life, the singer added, "But in all seriousness I have persevered through shaming my own body and internalizing the world’s opinions about it for my entire adult life."

Jessica Simpson told her followers how disappointed she is in the article and concluded her clap back by adding, "To read this much anticipated article about the classiest fashion event there is and have to be shamed by another woman for having boobs in 2020 is nauseating." In the article, Sally Singer, who announced her departure from Vogue last year, told the outlet, "One year Jessica Simpson was there with John Mayer. She was wearing Michael Kors and her breasts maybe fell out of her dress on the red carpet...and then at dinner it was suddenly like, whoa, Jessica Simpson’s breasts are across from me at the dinner table and they are on a platter and I’m looking at them." But she didn't stop there.

Claiming that John Mayer "was putting his hands on them at the dinner table," she added, "He kind of reached down and I just remember thinking, 'Oh, celebrities, feel free to play here. That’s what’s going on.'" Jessica Simpson has been open about her struggles with accepting her body over the years. In her memoir, "Open Book," she revealed she was so unhappy with her body after giving birth to her second child, Ace, that she got not one, but two tummy tucks. Going under the knife against doctor's orders, Jessica Simpson wrote that she almost died when she came close to needing a blood transfusion.
