Jerry Lee Lewis' daughter thinks his wife is plying her elderly father with opiates, and is now pleading for a court ordered psych exam to determine if he's of sound mind.
According to court documents, Phoebe Lewis-Loftin says Lewis' current wife, who was originally his caretaker, has been increasing dosages of opiate pharmaceuticals to keep him in a vegetative state and usurp control of his affairs.
The family fight stems from Lewis originally suing his daughter and her husband for defamation, elder financial abuse, and fraud. Lewis alleged while his daughter managed his affairs she squandered millions away by purchasing real estate, plastic surgery, and luxury cars. The suit also alleged that Loftin was the one who kept her father sedated with a cocktail of pharmaceuticals.
That case was dismissed for filing in the wrong state.
Loftin now claims her mother-in-law is the real villain, and is using the legal system to deceive her father and financially bleed him dry.
She also says that the "Great Balls of Fire" singer's 2012 marriage was just a sham because the singer was "incoherent and in a wheel chair."
Loftin says while managing her father she never stole anything from him, and in fact claims she saw records proving Lewis' wife bought increased doses of the opiates.
She says "He is 81 years old and even though he has been and is an extraordinary talent and entertainer on the world-wide stage he has been mistreated, mislead, misdirected and to my belief drugged to the point that he lacked the capacity to make proper decisions”
Loftin wants her father to undergo a medical and psychological exam to determine his state of mind and evaluate whether he is making decisions of his own free will.
