Jermaine Jackson Settles Divorce, Officially Single

Jermaine Jackson is free to marry his fiancée because he is no longer married to his ex.

A hearing was held today in Jackson's divorce case with his now ex-wife, Halima Rashid. The two sides were granted a termination of marital status, meaning they are now both legally single.

Rashid confirmed to the court that she had received nearly half a million dollars in payments from Jackson, partly from the proceeds from the sale of some of their community property.

She also waved her right to receive spousal support in return for shares in a water company the couple previously owned together. Jackson had previously been paying $2,500 in temporary support.

Rashid filed for divorce in 2016 following a domestic violence incident between the two where she allegedly bit his leg. The criminal case was dismissed by prosecutors.

The two were married in 2004 and have no kids together.

This divorce will be Jackson's third: he was previously married to Hazel Gordy from 1973 until 1988 and Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza from 1995 until 2003.

According to reports, the 63-year-old is engaged to his 23-year-old girlfriend, Maday Velazquez.
