Alex Trebek Says He Almost Gave Up On Life During Cancer Treatments

'Jeopardy!' host Alex Trebek just updated fans of the show on his cancer treatments, and in an emotional video, he revealed that he almost gave up on life but was determined to keep on fighting.

In the video, posted to Jeopardy's social media accounts, Alex addressed his current state of health saying at this moment it's a miracle because he has survived stage 4 pancreatic cancer for over a year. He explains the survival rate past one year is only 18%.

The beloved host joke that he has had good days and a lot of bad days, including telling friends it's not the cancer that is going to kill him it's the chemo treatments.

In the video, Alex explained just how much a toll the treatments have taken on his body...saying he has experienced great pain and many of his bodily functions didn't work properly. Trebek told his fans he has also had extreme bouts of depression during the last few months "that made me wonder if it was really worth fighting on."

But, he realized it would be giving up on his soulmate and wife, Jean, and it would be giving up on everyone who is in this fight with him and has sent their love and support. He also thanked God and everyone for sending their prayers to him.

Survival Rate For Second Year Is Just 7%....

In a scary moment, Alex explained the survival rate of someone with his specific cancer and stage, is now only at 7% through the next year. But, he said after speaking to his doctor, he had no doubt they would be sitting in the office a year from now talking about the third year.

Trebek has been giving back to the community during breaks from the game show, he just donated $100,00 to the Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission to help with Los Angeles County's homelessness crisis.

For now, Alex is celebrating this huge milestone of the one year mark, and getting back to hosting the show.
