Jennifer Lopez and Shakira put on one hell of a Super Bowl halftime show, proving that awesomeness has no age limit. Both women got their time to shine as individuals and as a team, playing their hits and sending a message of empowerment.

At the press conference the week before the show, Lopez said:

"When I think of all the little girls in the world, to be able to have that [and] to see that two Latinas [are] doing this in this country at this time, it’s just very empowering for us."

Do you think they accomplished that?

There were rumors ahead of the show that Lopez and Shakira were feuding through rehearsals, apparently clashing over their differing styles and arguing over stage time. However, Lopez shared a video on Twitter of the two singers looking thrilled with each other after their performance. Lopez wrote:

"LOVE this moment with me and @shakira literally seconds after we went off air!! We were so happy!! #MissionAccomplished #SuperBowlHalftime #LatinoGang #GirlsGirls #StrongerTogether"

Lopez is seen giving Shakira a playful swat on the butt before the two share a heartfelt hug. They are clearly feeling the adrenalin from the show, but their body language is very friendly.

While this clip seems to tell a different story, there were pretty persistent rumors that the two singers were not getting along as they prepared for the halftime show. A source told In Touch:

"There’s been some tension, to say the least, over the halftime show. J.Lo sees herself as the bigger star and she hates the thought of Shakira stealing her thunder."

The alleged source continued, saying that they had been "bickering about the direction of the show for weeks, and neither of them is willing to back down." Either those women have made up or they are better actresses than we thought.

Whether or not they are friends, Lopez and Shakira set out with a goal for their show. Lopez said at the press conference:

"Two Latinas doing this at this time in this country … it's just very empowering for us. I’m very proud to be able to help set and push for that message."

Shakira echoed the sentiment:

"J-Lo and I are here redefining paradigms about age, about race, about background. It really doesn’t matter where you’re from, how old you are or where you come from. What matters is what you have to say. We’re here, and we have a lot of stuff to say."

Mission accomplished!
