Jennifer Aniston Hung With Diane Sawyer To Prepare For 'The Morning Show'

By Ryan Naumann

Jennifer Aniston shadowed Diane Sawyer at work to prepare for her role as a news anchor in “The Morning Show”.

Aniston sat down with the New York Times for an interview and discussed a variety of topics including her new Apple show.

The show focuses on the behind-the-scenes of a morning news show. Aniston is joined by Steve Carell and Reese Witherspoon. Carell plays her co-anchor (who is fired for alleged sexual harassment) and Witherspoon plays a producer. The show premieres November 1.

In the sit-down, Aniston revealed she went backstage at “Good Morning America” to learn the news world.

She also spent time with legendary anchor, Diane Sawyer, to learn about the profession. The article notes she researched, “everything from her clothing choices to her caffeine habits, which involved toggling between Coca-Cola, Red Bull and coffee.”

Aniston and Sawyer have a history together, with the actress giving her a sit-down interview in 2004.

The actress then discussed her airplane emergency landing. Back in February, Aniston was on board a private jet with friends for her 50th birthday trip. The pilot told her, while in air, the plane was missing a tire. He told her they had to make an emergency landing.

Aniston says as the airplane burned fuel, she tried to remain calm. She spent hours joking with her friends and responding to texts from friends.

The day after the landing, the group of girls “gathered for a ritual they’ve been doing for three decades: a goddess circle. Seated on cushions, cross-legged on the living room floor, they passed around a beechwood talking stick decorated with feathers and charms, much as they had done for every major event of their lives.”

Apple reportedly paid out the big bucks to lure Witherspoon and Aniston to star in the scripted series.

Reports have the two pulling in a total of $1.25 million per episode to Aniston and Witherspoon, with Apple ordering a total of 20-episodes. The amount is said to include not only their acting salary but fees for executive producing and backend points.
