Epstein was on suicide watch until Friday.
Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his prison cell on Saturday morning from apparent suicide. Epstein was facing a long list of horrific criminal allegations, and was placed on suicide watch when he entered the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, but was taken off it on Friday.
On July 24, Epstein was hospitalized after he was found in his cell semi-conscious and in the fetal position on the floor.
New reports indicated that the two guards in charge of supervising Epstein did not follow protocol on the night that he died. They were supposed to check on him every 30 minutes, but sources claim that they did not follow through in the hours ahead of his death.
There is still some speculation that what was thought to be a suicide may in fact have been an attack, so many are calling for the security footage to be scrutinized. Either way, the situation needs to be fully investigated so that Epstein’s victims can have some semblance of justice.
There should be — and almost certainly is — video of Epstein’s suicide at MCC. One hopes it is complete, conclusive, and secured.
