Jeff Bezos Trashed For Lack Of Charity After Ex-Wife MacKenzie Donates $1.7 Billion

By Ryan Naumann

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is being torn to shreds online for his minimal charitable donations following his ex-wife MacKenzie gave away nearly 2 billion to causes.

Earlier this week, MacKenzie Scott announced she had donated a total of $1.7 billion to 116 organizations. She wrote on Medium, “Last year I pledged to give the majority of my wealth back to the society that helped generate it, to do it thoughtfully, to get started soon, and to keep at it until the safe is empty. There’s no question in my mind that anyone’s personal wealth is the product of a collective effort, and of social structures which present opportunities to some people, and obstacles to countless others.”

Since her divorce from Jeff Bezos where she walked away with a $38 billion divorce payout, Mackenzie has promised to give away the majority of her fortune during her lifetime.

On her Medium post, MacKenzie said she has given $586 million to Racial Equity, $46 million LGBTQ+ Equity, $133 million to Gender Equity, $400 million to economic mobility, and hundreds of millions more.

Jeff, who is worth an estimated 180.4 billion, recently donated $125 million (with an M) to help with Coronavirus. Many were quick to call out Jeff for his lack of donations.

One said, “she doing more than tf he doing” and “Jeff Bezos ex wife is already doing more with her split of the money...1.5 billion donated just like that.”

“If @JeffBezos is worth 180 BILLION, #trickledowntheory does not work!! Bezos should give 179 bil. back to Americans in taxes he never paid or give in charity; AND pay his employees so he no longer makes any $, because they would spend all the salary & help #economy! Not hoard it!” said another person on Twitter.

One person [said](, “did yall how jeff bezos ex wife donated almost 2 bil to charity??????? and he donated 500 million????? laughable.”
