Jamie Lynn Spears will be putting her Southern skills to work after signing on to star in Netflix’s new series.
Jamie Lynn, who formerly starred on Nickelodeon’s “Zoey 101” and “All That,” will be playing a recurring role in the recently announced, “Sweet Magnolias.”
The show, starring Chris Klein, will be based on a popular series of novels, written by author Sherryl Woods, and taking place in the picturesque town of Serenity, South Carolina.
The focus for the show, as first reported by Deadline, will follow three women who have been best friends since childhood.
Britney Spears’ little sister will play the role of Noreen Fitzgibbons, who comes to Serenity to find work as a nurse after a string of poor life decisions.
Klein, who most recently appeared as Cicada on CW’s “The Flash,” will play the town pediatrician … so there’s a good chance his character could spark up a romance with Spears.
“Sweet Magnolias” also stars Justin Bruening, Monica Potter, Brooke Elliott and Heather Headley.
Playing a nurse is a very meta role for Jamie Lynn, as she has been helping care for her older sister for years, and coming to Britney’s defense when trolls speak about the family on social media.
Earlier this year, while Britney was receiving treatment at a mental health facility, Jamie Lynn went on the attack against fans and wrote, “I love my sister with everything I have. So anyone or anything that speaks to the contrary can GTFOH with all the comments about what you don’t understand.”
She followed up by telling fans, “Don’t come for me or the ones I love anymore.”
