Why Does This Car Have Extra Wheels?

Twitter

Should we just call it "Cartow Karaoke," since the car isn't actually being driven?

A video circulating on social media that allegedly shows host James Corden shooting an episode of "Carpool Karaoke."

He's apparently in the car with a guest, yet the car is being pulled along by a truck, with little wheels attached to the big wheels of Corden's car.

Someone named @zolihonig posted the video, saying that he saw Corden with Justin Bieber as they were shooting an episode. The video shows the car clearly being pulled by a larger vehicle.

"Yo it's the Beebs! and Justin Corden [sic], their Carpool Karaoke!" says @zolihonig.

"That is so funny,... oh it's so great!" someone else says off-camera.

"Saw James corden and Justin Bieber filming carpool karaoke and this is why I have trust issues — he isn't even driving!," @zolihonig tweeted.

It's really difficult to see whether it actually is Corden and Bieber, so the sighting can't be independently verified. Still, who else would be driving around with custom-made wheels on top of a car's own wheels?

If you look close enough you can see a small camera that's mounted outside the car, near the driver's side window. All signs point to this being James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" in action, though we could use a second source to confirm.

In a separate tweet, @zolihonig wrote: "I’d be fantastic at car-pull karaoke. Just FYI."

Maybe we should be relieved to discover that Corden's not driving, because you really should have both hands on the wheel, not bopping along to your favorite song with an actual professional singer.

We Demand the Truth

What kind of sorcery have they been putting on us?

In regular clips from the show, Corden has his hand on the wheel, albeit loosely. But what else are we supposed to think? It says "Carpool Karaoke" so we would naturally assume someone is driving. But "driving" is apparently a very loose term here.

The fact that Corden has been outed in this way is a bit embarrassing. It would be one thing if the show's creators came out and said something like "We've got a secret -- it's not ACTUALLY Corden driving, though we are in a car," or something like that.

On the other hand, should we really be surprised that he's not driving? It seems far-fetched to assume he and his guest stars are just randomly driving down the street, running some errands, or heading to the convenience store for some car snacks.

Let's be real.
