Big News For 'Hocus Pocus' Fans

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker seems to have dropped a big hint about that planned sequel to 1993's Halloween hit Hocus Pocus.

'We Have All Said Yes'

Parker posted a picture of the three Sanderson sisters on her Instagram. With it she wrote “Halloween 2019,” and “One for the books," and signed it "X, SJ."

And in response to one person's question about the sequel, Parker answered in her post: “We have all said yes. Now we wait.”

Fans responded positively to her Instagram post. "One of my all time favourite films. Can’t beat the good family fun films," said chelle111.

The Witches Want To Be On Board

It's been confirmed that a sequel is in the works for Hocus Pocus 2, which would air on Disney Plus.

Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy have also confirmed they're interested in taking part. While at Midler's Hulaween Gala in New York City, she and Najimy talked about such a possibility.

According to Midler, no one is more surprised than she is.

“Oh my goodness me. Oh, I hope they get to me before I’m a corpse."

"We wanna fly again. I hope Disney+ is a big success and I hope we get to do it, because [Winifred] is of course one of my favorite characters…. I can’t wait to read the script. We’re gonna see what happens.”

Najimy Says It Would Be 'Really Fun'

And Najimy said even having just a small part of the sequel would be loads of fun.

“I’m happy that it’s happening, because the fans are really rabid and they really want it, [And] if we’re not all available to star in it, I think it would be so great to do a cameo. I think that’d be really fun.”

Fans: No Go Without the Three

Fans have been pretty clear that any sequel to Hocus Pocus should have the original Sanderson sisters -- played by Midler, Najimy and Parker.

“ORIGINAL CAST OR NOTHING! I will literally subscribe to Disney plus JUST for this!” tweeted one person.

“Bring back the original cast, or we don’t want it,” said @ColinGregoryA on Twitter.

There's Only One Way To Go Here

In 2017, the co-writer of Hocus Pocus, spoke to Forbes, saying that any sequel should have its original cast members.

“All three of them are still so incredibly potent and powerful and great performers and who else can recreate those characters?” He added that not having them in the sequel “would be a big mistake.”
