It seems that HBO has found their next Game of Thrones.
San Diego Comic Con is finally here, and that means tons of new trailers for fans to geek out over. Day one brought exciting new information about the upcoming Terminator: Dark Fate and Top Gun: Maverick, but perhaps the most exciting new trailer was HBO’s upcoming adaptation of His Dark Materials.
The His Dark Materials panel offered a look at the first full trailer of the upcoming series. While the 2007 film The Golden Compass was a huge disappointment to fans of the books, the new show looks to be a magical and faithful adaptation. They have perfectly nailed the look of the daemons, the tone of the story, and of course Iorek Byrnison, the armored bear.
The new series also boasts an incredible cast including James McAvoy, Dafne Keen, Ruth Wilson, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

If anyone was worried about what would fill HBO’s magical drama void now that Game of Thrones is over (until the prequel series), His Dark Materials is definitely stepping up to the plate.
While no official premiere date has been announced, it is expected sometime in fall 2019.
As a longtime fan of the books, I've been waiting for years for a faithful adaptation to wash the bitter taste of the Golden Compass movie out of my mouth. This trailer made my eyes pop. #HisDarkMaterials feels like it's really shaping up to be something special. https://t.co/8wsFJTtI6J
