After many rumors and speculation, HBO Max has announced that they're at the very early stages of planning a 'Friends' reunion special. Hollywood Reporter confirmed that while HBO Max claims that "a deal is far from done," they plan on filming an unscripted reunion special. Jennifer Anniston, David Schwimmer, Courtney Cox, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc will all return for the reunion special as well as creators David Crane and Marta Kauffmann. The reunion special would be featured on WarnerMedia's new streaming service HBO Max when it launches in May 2020.

The 'Friends' cast members tried their best to keep their lips sealed and shut down any rumors. While many fans were fooled by their coverups, this didn't stop them from talking about their own reboot hopes on the show. Many cast members have confided with Ellen Degeneres on her public talk show about their hopes of a 'Friends' reboot or some form of continuation for the show. When Courtney Cox appeared on 'Ellen' in 2018 she explained that despite her hopes and dreams, a 'Friends' reboot will likely never happen.

“People ask us all the time, ‘Will we ever do a remake?’ That was a story about these group of people that are friends in their 30s who are finding themselves. I don’t know if there’s a way to redo it,” she told PEOPLE in October 2018. “I just don’t see it happening. Even though I would do anything to be in a room with all of those people acting and having a great time. But I don’t see it happening." Jennifer Anniston appeared on 'Ellen' in October and very emphatically shut down any rumors of a reunion.

However, she did suspiciously go on to say, “We would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is. So we’re just trying. We’re working on something.” They've also been spotted recently having their own reunion leading to Anniston creating an instagram account. 'Friends' has been a hot topic recently after celebrating its 25th anniversary. Netflix also recently announced that it'd be taking 'Friends' of off its streaming service in 2020 when it becomes a part of HBO Max. While fans have been jostled around by the roller coaster of news, they are mostly ecstatic for this reunion. @M_Davidson64 tweeted, " I just finished watching #friends with my daughter for the umps-teen time, all 10 seasons, so I’m really looking forward to a #FriendsReunion"
