Is That You, Hayden Panettiere? Her Unrecognizable Return To Social Media

By Jeff Mazzeo

Hayden Panettiere knows that you have less bad hair days when you have less hair. The 30-year-old actress made a huge splash by showing off her new look on social media after a 10-month absence.

She shared a cute picture where she looked almost unrecognizable to her Twitter feed. The actress had a mischievous smile and WAY shorter hair!

"Channeling my inner #Kirby #Scream4 Thanks to my boys ⁦@anthonyleonard ❤️" Hayden said in her first tweet since February.

She referenced the character she played in the 2011 movie, "Scream 4" in the caption of her photo. The character Kirby's hair was also styled in a short pixie cut.

Her followers were shocked but showed the star a lot of love since she has been dark for so long.

"Twitter has missed you," one loving fan said while another wrote, "Kirby Forever! You look so great with this hairdo!"

Her tweet was flooded by fans who took the new hairdo as a hint that there will be a "Scream 5."

"I’m just gonna take this as confirmation Kirby is coming back for Scream 5," a hopeful fan commented while a disillusioned follower said, "kirby never died in scream 4 since we never saw it happen, please revive for scream 5."

Turns out that the fans calling for her to be in "Scream 5" could possibly be on to something because the film is just at it's beginning stages of production, according to Deadline.

The project is in early development with Spyglass Entertainment but has no director attached yet. The previous films in the franchise were directed by the late Wes Craven.

One fan replied to Hayden's tweet and asked her, "How can you make a scream 5 without wes craven?"

Could Hayden's hair be a hint that her character Kirby will be back in the picture? Probably not because E! News spoke to the stylist responsible and he said she was just "looking for a radical change."

"It's a modern version of a classic pixie style with a little more of an edge," hairstylist Leonard Zagami told E! News. "The color is silver, but not grey. She had previously been going with a super sexy blonde... The cut was a collaborative idea. She has wanted to go short for a while but she has always had a commitment with her work and wasn't able to. Right now, she is free and said, let's do it!"
