Harvey Weinstein is not in Park City, Utah for the Sundance Film Festival because that would mean he was in violation of the terms of his release, which would land him behind bars.
A report out this morning says there are "rumors" that Weinstein is in town and taking meetings, and that his former assistant was seen at an event over the weekend.
But a source close to Weinstein claims the rumors are completely untrue, stating the obvious: "If he was there, he would have been arrested for breaking his bail terms."
When Harvey Weinstein was arrested and charged last May, he posted $1 million bail and was fitted with a GPS monitoring device. The terms of his bail stated that Weinstein was only allowed to travel to New York and Connecticut and if he wanted to go elsewhere, he had to seek prior approval from the court.
Weinstein is the subject of a new documentary, "Untouchable," which is premiering at the festival.
The trial for the disgraced mogul is slated to begin May 6.
