'Hamilton' Star Miguel Cervantes Pays Tribute to 3-Year-Old Daughter After Death

By Gary Trock

"Hamilton" star Miguel Cervantes and his wife are mourning the loss of their 3-year-old daughter after the child lost her battle with an ongoing illness over the weekend.

Both parents made the heartbreaking announcement on Sunday, letting fans know that Adelaide had died the day before. They posted a message alongside a black and white photo of Adelaide's empty room.

"The machines are off. Her bed is empty. The quiet is deafening. Adelaide left us early Saturday. She went peacefully in her mother's arms, surrounded by love. Finally, she is free from pain + seizures but leaves our hearts shattered. We love you so much Adelaideybug and forever after."

Adelaide had been diagnosed with epilepsy at seven months, and she also suffered from intense infantile spasms.

On Monday, Miguel updated fans to let them know the family appreciated all the love and support.

"Dear everyone.
Just wanted you to know that @KellyGC411 , Jackson and I are doing ok. We are comforted knowing there are so many people sending positive vibes. We are seeing all of it. ❤ and thanks."

He also announced that "We will be celebrating her life and legacy soon."

The Cervantes family had documented Adelaide's battle, and most recently showed her getting a mold of her hand with the family's other child, son Jackson.

"A mold was made of my son and daughter holding hands," Miguel explained, adding that, "It may be one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen."

Miguel stars as Alexander Hamilton in the Chicago production of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway show.

Miranda paid his respects to the Cervantes family by retweeting a message directing fans where they can donate to epilepsy research.
