Halsey Rips Victoria's Secret for Lack of Inclusivity While Show Airs

By TheBlast Staff

Halsey had some strong words to say about transphobic comments made by one of the Victoria's 'Secret Fashion Show executives, and waited right until the show began airing to let everyone know how she felt.

Minutes after the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show began airing Sunday night, the "Bad at Love" singer took to Instagram for a lengthy comment on the company's chief marketing officer, Ed Razek, making insensitive comments during an interview with Vogue in November.

Razek had been asked about inclusivity in VS, and was quoted as saying, "If you’re asking if we’ve considered putting a transgender model in the show or looked at putting a plus-size model in the show, we have," adding, "Why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is."

Razek later apologized for the comments, and claimed that transgender models had auditioned for the show, but were just not chosen.

Halsey wrote that she cannot ignore the comments, which she clarifies were made after she filmed her part in the show, which included a musical performance of "Without Me."

The singer stated she had "No tolerance for a lack of inclusivity," adding, "Especially not one motivated by stereotype." In response, Halsey says she has made a sizable donation to an LGBTQ organization, and that "Acceptance is the only 'fantasy' I support."
