“It’s a pretty bummer song,” she stated. “I’m so bad at talking about this song. I guess it’s kind of about the opioid epidemic…I’ve had quite a few friends pass away, in particular, one friend when I was 18 passed away from complications related to opioid addiction. Artists keep dying and stuff so I wrote this song on the night Lil Peep died.”

The rapper passed away in Tucson, Arizona while on tour in November of 2017. He was 21-years-old and the official cause of death was revealed to be an overdose of fentanyl and generic Xanax, according to the Pima Country Office of the Medical Examiner. The rising artist racked up millions of plays on SoundCloud "mixed guitar-driven emo and rap production on mixtapes." Despite being relatively unknown to the larger public, his music was influential and obviously left an impact on other artist's like Grimes.

Grimes explained that the song, "Delete Forever" is different from any other song on her new album and said the song has a country vibe despite being inspired by the late rapper.

“It’s funny because the finished product is basically almost the demo,” she told Zane on Beats 1. “When I was making this song I was trying to be more like Patsy Cline or something, like I was trying to be country or something, but I feel like it’s more like…when you go to a punk show and they play some acoustic sh**, but it’s super aggro.”

Lowe noted that the tune reminds him of Oasis' hit song, “Wonderwall.”

It has not been a completely terrible experience for the expecting mother and she detailed that her hormones have been "wild" thoughts.

"It’s been good too, but it makes working a lot harder. Good at writing and having lots of wild ideas tho, but anything physical is hard," the musician stated. "Im also way more emo and less capable of bravery in the face of haters online and stuff haha. But my albums out in a sec so I prob need to get back on here.
