Rumors Swirl That Elon Musk & Grimes Are Naming Their Baby 'Influenza'

Are Elon Musk and his pregnant girlfriend Grimes planning to name their child "Influenza?" That's what their fans want to know after Twitter lit up with the news they had decided on the name to commemorate this trying time in the world, resulting in several people immediately taking their shock to social media. However, everyone can take a breath, because it appears their unborn baby's name was at the center of a hoax after an online article made the rounds appearing to look like it was from a legit news site.

The headline reading "Grimes named her child WHAT" included a false BBC logo and even claimed to have a quote from Grimes herself. The article quickly gained heat and was tweeted by Pop Base, a pop culture news account that hails over 24k followers. Their tweet read, "Grimes and Elon Musk have reportedly named their child Influenza," and was retweeted more than 2,400 and liked by 25k. Fans immediately began taking jabs at the couple and creating memes about their future child's reported name.

People got creative with someone posting a meme of an anxious girl with the caption, "influenza musk first day at school mentally preparing for roll call." Another showed a screeching black cat with the words, "influenza musk when someone asks her what her name is." A third troll showed gray clouds and a storm brewing over the city. "Influenza musk after getting out of grimes vagina," they wrote. While Elon Musk and Grimes have yet to comment on what their baby's name will actually be, a bizarre one isn't totally out of the question. Especially since the singer legally changed her name to just the letter "c" back in 2018 thanks to her billionaire baby daddy.

Back in February, Grimes openly discussed how some fans have guessed right about the baby's name but didn't divulge what that will be. "Annoyingly, some of the memes about my naming ideas are on point," she told The Face. Earlier this month, Grimes bared her big ole baby bump and looked ready to pop. But her pregnancy hasn't been an easy one. She revealed that she struggled through the third trimester and asked her fans for advice. "I feel like I was woefully ill prepared cuz I dunno if pregnancy is as visible or discussed as it should be. I just didn’t rly understand what I was getting into," she said at the time.
