The boyfriend of late singer, George Michael, is currently behind bars after allegedly causing major damage inside Michael’s former mansion.
Fadi Fawaz was taken into custody Tuesday night in London after neighbors called police. Apparently they had seen 46-year-old Fawaz on the roof of the mansion.
When police arrived, Fawaz had gone inside, where he apparently went on a rampage.
A Met Police spokesperson said, “Police were called on Tuesday, 23 July at around 7 PM to a report of a man seen on the roof of an address.”
Police noted that when they made contact with Fawaz he was inside the mansion, but that the property had “extensive damage.”
The damage was so bad, that even the London Fire Brigade was called to assist in the arrest and ensure that nobody was injured.
A neighbor told The Sun that Fawaz smashed up all the fixtures, toilets and windows.
Police say Fawaz was arrested for aggravated criminal damage, and taken to a north London police station.
Fawaz has been living in George Michael’s home since the Wham! singer died on Christmas morning in 2016.
Michaels was found unresponsive by Fawaz in bed and declared dead at the scene.
His death was later determined to be “natural,” and a medical examiner attributed it to dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and a fatty liver.
After he passed, Michaels mansion became a memorial for thousands of fans wanting to drop off flowers, cards and pay their last respects to the singer.
A memorial garden still exists outside the home in London and is tended to by fans.
