Social Media Reunions

Jennifer Aniston broke Instagram when she joined the social media site, breaking records left and right. Not only did she acquire millions of followers in the blink of an eye, but she also started the rumor mill by posting a selfie including all of her Friends co-stars: Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and Matthew Perry.

Aniston admitted the Jimmy Kimmel that she had a "stalker" Instagram account before she took the plunge and made a public profile.

"It was a stalker account, yes. When I was thinking about doing this I sort of figured it was time to kind of understand the world and dip my toe into the sort of social media pool."

Aniston has proven that she (or rather her team) is adept at running a very successful account in the meantime.

Monica + Chandler Forever

Her Friends costar and bestie Courtney Cox has been killing it on Instagram for a while now, and has posted a number of pictures with her Friends costars, particularly Aniston and Kudrow.

However, she really broke the Internet when she posted a picture with Matthew Perry, who played her love interest Chandler on Friends. Fans lost their minds, filling her comment section with Friends references galore.

This influx of Friends content got fans wondering if something new was on the way.

An "Unscripted Special" Is In The Works

Aniston, who has been making the rounds promoting her new Apple TV+ series The Morning Show, teased that "something" Friends related was in the works on The Ellen Show, and then doubled down while visiting The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, saying:

"I made noises... Something is happening. Something is happening. But we don’t know what that something is."

However, Variety broke that there were a few more details to the project. The original cast and creators of Friends are in discussion on a "reunion special" for HBO Max, the future streaming home of the show.

Fans Are Thrilled... Mostly

It is very much still in the works, but Variety offered a little insight into the special.

"Sources say original cast members Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer are in discussions to appear in the special, alongside David Crane and Marta Kauffman, who co-created the show. No official plans are currently in place nor are there details on what the special would look like. Most likely it would feature the cast and creators sharing stories and memories from the set of the beloved sitcom."

Fans are losing their minds over the news of a special, although some are sad that it won't be a scripted program checking in on where the characters are "up to now." You win some, you lose some.
