A woman in Santa Monica who was caught on video pretending to board up a building before getting into her car and driving away has reportedly been fired from her job.
The video, which went viral, shows a woman talking with a man at a boarded up building. The woman appears to borrow his power drill briefly, while someone takes her picture as she apparently pretends to help board up the window. After thanking the man, the woman gets into the passenger side of a car and drives away. She also appears to shout out “BLM” as she leaves.
@ewufortheloss included the video on Twitter and wrote:
“This lady stopped someone boarding up a store in Santa Monica so she could hold the drill for a picture, then drove away. Please don’t do this.”
Many people tried to tweet @FactsWithFiona to find out if she was the person who staged a Black Lives Matter protest photo.
The incident even caught the eye of Pink, who tweeted: “What is wrong with these entitled a - - holes?! Who the f – – k are you and who are your parents you horrible person. How can anyone defend this???!!!”
“The Post” writes that “New York Times” reporter Taylor Lorenz “publicly recognized Moriarty-McLaughlin in the video.”
Lorenz covers internet culture for the newspaper.
“The Post” says they tried to contact Moriarty-McLaughlin to get more details and confirmation, but she hasn’t returned their call.

It’s not looking good for whoever did this, and people online are clearly angry that someone would pretend to help out with damage from the protests for a photo opportunity.
On June 2, @HannahNEsquivel tweeted:
“A big congratulations to Fiona Moriarty-McLaughlin for being this week’s Bird B—h of the day! It takes a dumb f—ng b—h to win this award! First place medal if y’all wanna congratulate her feel free to send an email: [email protected]”
@RaverSymone also seemed to confirm the Twitter user responsible for the photo op, and also included the person’s Instagram account. That account is currently private.

There is talk online that Moriarty-McLaughlin works for the “Washington Examiner,” and The Shade Room reports that the woman has been fired from her job.
On June 1, @KirstenAllison tweeted: “Meanwhile Fiona Moriarty McLaughlin @factswithfiona stages a fake photo-op pretending to help cleanup after protests in Santa Monica. This is despicable. @dcexaminer how do you feel about your ‘reporter’ creating fake news. I wonder what other stories she’s lied about.”
Just don’t do this.
