Eminem is celebrating a huge milestone in his life, Slim Shady is 12 years sober -- and the legendary rapper marked the occasion by sharing a photo of his new sobriety coin.

Marshall Mathers posted a picture of his newest piece of hardware on Instagram Monday, marking the anniversary of the day he decided to give up drugs and alcohol.

"Clean dozen, in the books! I’m not afraid," he captioned the photo.

Slim Shady has shared the important milestones with his millions of followers over the last few years. On the 10th anniversary, he shared a photo of the coin while at Coachella, a place where most people surrounding him were not sober.

As you know, drug abuse and alcohol use is rampant in the lyrics of his award-winning albums -- but the rapper has never been shy about publically addressing his addiction.

The Detroit rapper told Vibe Magazine in 2009, "It's no secret I had a drug problem." He added, "If I was to give you a number of Vicodin I would actually take in a day? Anywhere between 10 to 20. Valium, Ambien, the numbers got so high I don't even know what I was taking."

Eminem found himself in rehab several times in the early 2000s but in 2007 he was hospitalized due to a methadone overdose.

In 2008, he checked himself into another rehab facility and started the full 12-step program to overcome his addiction. He got sober on April 20, 2008.
