Elvis Presley’s grandson, Benjamin Keough, has died of an apparent suicide after reportedly succumbing to a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
A manager for Lisa Marie confirmed the death, saying, “She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11 year old twins and her oldest daughter Riley. She adored that boy. He was the love of her life.”
Benjamin is the brother of actress Riley Keough, and was a musician just like this mother and grandfather.
Back in 2009, Keough struck a $5 Million record deal with Universal music and was featured in several Hollywood movies. Not much else is known about Lisa Marie’s son as he kept a pretty low profile.
Benjamin looked very much like his famous grandfather and his mother spoke openly about their similar appearance. “Ben does look so much like Elvis. He was at the Opry and was the quiet storm behind the stage,” she said.
Adding, “Everybody turned around and looked when he was over there. Everybody was grabbing him for a photo because it is just uncanny.”
It’s unclear if Benjamin was suffering from any sort of aliment that led him to taking his own life.
The last time Keough was seen publicly was his the 40th anniversary of his grandfather’s death, where the family gathered at his home in Graceland.
At the time, Lisa Marie Presley was fighting with her ex-husband over taking all of her children to celebrate the anniversary and other holidays at Graceland.
Benjamin also inspired his mother’s song ‘Storm & Grace’ based off of his middle name. A few of lyrics include, “You have the most beautiful heart/That I’ve ever known/It kills me you can’t ever show it/And a shell has been grown.”
As we reported, Lisa Marie is currently in a long running battle over Elvis’ $100 Million fortune. She is also fighting her ex-husband on a second legal front over two of her younger children.
At this point, the Los Angeles County Corner’s office has not made an official ruling on cause of death, and not much else is know about the scene of the apparent suicide.
