Elon Musk seems to be withdrawing his support for Kanye West.

Elon Musk Tells Kanye West To Postpone Presidential Bid

By Emily Reily

Elon Musk, who earlier this month was fully on board with Kanye West's presidential run for office, now says he should maybe stop his campaign and instead try again in 2024.

In an interview with "The New York Times" Musk said, “I’ve done my best to convince him that 2024 would be better than 2020."

He's likely referring to West's recent rant on Twitter against his wife, Kim Kardashian West, his mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, and others. The family says Kanye, who is bipolar, is going through an episode with his illness.

West later issued an apology online to his wife.

West launched his bid for the presidency in a July 4 tweet, saying:

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States!” adding the hashtag “#2020VISION."

He also said, “I proposed to [Musk] to be the head of our space program,” to which Musk tweeted: "You have my full support!"

West named his wife, Kim Kardashian West, and Musk as his advisors, and said he'd “been talking about this for years." He also chose his running mate - Michelle Tidbal, a Wyoming preacher.

Musk told "The Times" that he's been friends with West for "at least" 10 years. Along with everyone else, he was watching West's meltdown on Twitter and decided to check in on his friend.

“When he was about a third of the way through the tweet rampage, just to see if he was doing OK, I sent him a text saying, you know, ‘just checking on you, a lot of people are worried, just wondering if you’re OK.' "

It sounds like Musk talked with West verbally, but he sensed that things were pretty bad.

“He seemed fine on the call. But it sounds like things are, you know, not fine. There seem to be a lot of issues.”

In an interview with Forbes, West outlined his plans to consult trusted authorities while running for president.

“I’m speaking with experts, I’m going to speak with Jared Kushner, the White House, with Biden,” West said.

West also renounced his ties with President Trump, who has hosted West at the White House.

“I am taking the red [MAGA] hat off, with this interview. One of the main reasons I wore the red hat as a protest to the segregation of votes in the Black community. Also, other than the fact that I like Trump hotels and the saxophones in the lobby.”

@solid_skeptic explained why he thinks the friendship between West and Trump is problematic for the country.

"Make no mistake, folks; a write-in for Kanye West is a vote for Trump. Trump knows this, and loves it. The real question: is Kanye doing this with intent and collaboration with POTUS, or is he being a useful idiot that is being manipulated via his oversized ego?"
