Ed Sheeran is taking a break from music and his fans are worried it'll turn out like One Direction, where he won't come back.

The "Cross Me" singer made the announcement this week during his last show on the Divide Tour in Ipswich, England, on Monday night.

"As you may or not know, I’ve been on the Divide tour for over two years now and this is the last day of the whole thing,” Sheeran told the crowd during the show.

"There is something very bittersweet about it. I love that you guys are here and we are ending it in Ipswich," he said. "This is my last gig for probably 18 months.”

In the past two years, Sheeran and his crew have played every major concert arena around the world.

"We’ve played all around the world. Glastonbury, Wembley Stadium,” the singer continued. “All these amazing venues, America, New Zealand, Australia, Asia, South America — it’s been a wild one."

He said this tour marked one of his greatest accomplishments.

"I was told before I came on that now at the end of this tour I’ve played to nine million people around the world. It is the biggest tour ever," Sheeran stated.

The musician might be ready for a break, but his fans aren't.

After the hiatus news broke, his Sheerios took to social media and shared their concerns this may be the end of Ed Sheeran music.

They're also dreading that his hiatus will turn out like One Direction's, where the boy band just never got back together.

If you'll recall, One Direction -- which included bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan -- took a hiatus in early 2015 then later extended it.

They ended up going their own ways and the band just vanished.
