Duane Martin spoke about protecting "brown girls" right before his estranged wife accused him of years of domestic violence, but it doesn't appear Duane was referencing his own situation.
"Historically we have failed our brown girls, period." Duane was addressing the controversy around R. Kelly and the Lifetime documentary, "Surviving R. Kelly."
Duane says Kelly has "stirred up a lot of hurt, pain, trauma and finger pointing," but says "bottom line is we have an opportunity to get it right this time."
The timing of Duane's video is interesting, considering a few hours after posting, Tisha Campbell-Martin obtained a restraining order against the actor and accused him of years of abuse, including strangulation.
As we first reported, Tisha claims Duane has ridiculed her over weight, and been physically aggressive with her multiple times throughout their marriage.
Duane has not yet responded to the allegations, but the restraining order was granted and he must stay 100 yards away from Tisha as the two continue going through their divorce and bankruptcy.
