Sex therapist Amie Harwick was murdered in her home over the weekend. There was evidence of a struggle in her home and Harwick was found having fallen or been thrown from her third story window. Her roommate called for help, and Harwick appeared was “gravely injured” with “injuries consistent with a fall.” Harwick was unresponsive and succumbed to her wounds in the hospital. Her ex-boyfriend has since been arrested.
Harwick was the ex-fiancée of The Price Is Right host Drew Carey, who released a heartbroken statement in the wake of the news.
“Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime. She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation.”

Additionally, The Price Is Right is going on a brief hiatus following this news. While Carey didn’t address the show cancelling tapings next week, it is assumed that the break is correlated with Harwick’s murder. Audience members were sent an email from the show to inform them that the recordings were cancelled.
“We sincerely apologize, but we were notified that the tapings on Tuesday, February 18th and Wednesday, February 19th have been cancelled. We are extremely sorry and invite you to reschedule for a taping next week or in March. Tickets are free… Thank you for your understanding and we hope to still see you at the world famous game show.”
Fans have been sending their condolences to Carey on social media, sending him thoughts and prayers during this painful time.
“Drew, It’s hard to believe & then it happens to someone close to you. Seeing this reminds me to tell my family & all my that are a part of my life that I love them because you just do not know what tomorrow holds. Be sure she knows and let those around you know you love them.”
“So sorry to hear. You are truly the nicest guy in LA, and that made her amazing by proxy. Sending love to you and all the families involved.”
“So sorry for your loss. What a senseless act of violence and cowardice. Truly tragic. Prayers that your memories bring you comfort. ?”
Oh bud. I can’t imagine the gamut of emotions you’re going through, let alone an entire mental health community that was deeply affected by this sudden tragic loss. Take time to grieve, and then do what you do best: pay it forward. Much love to you
