Drew Carey's Ex-Fiancee Was 'Strangled' Before Falling Over Balcony To Her Death

By Mike Walters

Amie Harwick, Drew Carey's ex-fiancee, was strangled before falling to her death over a balcony it was determined after an autopsy was performed on the slain therapist.

According to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, Harwick's cause of death is officially listed as "blunt force trauma" to the head and torso due to the 3-story fall over the balcony. But, the secondary cause of death is now listed as "manual strangulation."

The L.A. District Attorney's Office has charged Harwick's ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse with murder after it was believed he is responsible for her going over the balcony.

According to their complaint, they claim Pursehouse broke into Harwick's home and spent more than an hour at the residence before killing her. So, after being released on $2 million bail, he was re-arrested on a 'no-bail' hold after prosecutors say he was 'lying in wait' for Amie.

As we reported, around 1 A.M on Saturday, LAPD responded to reports of a woman screaming, and say when they arrived they found Harwick dead on the outside balcony. Officers say when they arrived they found Amie's roommate outside who directed officers to the crime scene.

Pursehouse now faces the death penalty if he is convicted based on the evidence provided to the DA by the coroner's office and LAPD.

This Is Not The First Time He Allegedly Choked Her...

Shockingly, this is not the first time Pursehouse has allegedly been involved in a violent situation with Harwick.

In fact, several years ago, she filed a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend claiming he had "choked me, suffocated me, pushed me against walls, kicked me, dropped me to the ground with force...slammed my head into the ground, and punched me with a closed fist."

According to the legal documents, she also said he had pushed her out of a car after they had an argument, leaving her on the side of the freeway.

The restraining order was granted for 3 years but expired in April of 2015.

'Price Is Right' host Drew Carey was engaged to Amie Harwick last year, but the couple split after only a short time. He issued a statement following her death, saying, “Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime. She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation.”
