Drake has handled his issues with his father and even dressed up as him for Halloween.
The rapper took to social media to share a photo in his full costume as his father, Dennis Graham.
Drake is seen standing next to his dad in the photo. He captioned the post, “Not planned.”
The costume was a hit with Jaime Foxx commenting, “Incredible!!!!! ???? Brilliant” and La La Anthony wrote “???.”
Diddy even left a laughing emoji while Big Freedia said, “???Love it.”
Swae Lee even commented “???twinning” while a fan said, “You in 30 years”
The costume comes weeks after the two had a little public spat. The whole thing started when Dennis Graham sat down for an interview with Nick Cannon.
During the interview, Dennis claimed that Drake admitted to him he wrote lyrics to “sell records”, especially when he talked about his relationship with his dad.
Drake has often written lyrics about growing up without Dennis around all the time. In his song “Look What You’ve Done”, Drake raps about his father not paying child support or showing up to events.
“And my father living in Memphis now, he can’t come this way/Over some minor charges and child support/That just wasn’t paid, damn/Boo-hoo, sad story—Black American dad story,”.
Dennis told Cannon that he “always been with Drake.” He continued, “I talked to him if not every day, every other day and we really got into a deep conversation about that, ‘I said Drake, why are you saying all this different stuff about me man like this is not cool. He goes ‘Dad it sells records,’ and I said ‘Okay well cool.'”
Drake took to social media to address Dennis’ claim. He wrote he woke up feeling “so hurt” over his father’s interview.
He wrote, “My father will say anything to anymore that’s willing to listen to him. It’s sad when family gets like this but what can we really do that’s the people we are stuck with … every bar I ever spit was the truth and the truth is hard for some people to accept.
The rapper shared a photo from his son’s birthday celebration, which appeared to go down at his new mansion in Toronto. He captioned the post, “Happy Birthday King ?”.
Sophie Brussaux, the mother of Adonis, shared snaps from the party which featured Sesame Street-inspired artwork. She wrote, “A proud, PROUD, birthday mom.”
The rapper talked about his son on his album “Scorpion”. On his track “Emotionless” he rapped, “I wasn’t hiding my kid from the world, I was hiding the world from my kid / From empty souls who just wake up and look to debate / Until you staring at your seed, you could never relate.”
He went deeper on “March 14” where the lyrics included, “Yesterday morning was crazy / I had to come to terms with the fact that it’s not a maybe / That shit is in stone, sealed and signed / She’s not my lover like Billie Jean, but the kid is mine / Sandi used to tell me all it takes is one time / Shit, we only met two times. Two times / And both times were nothing like the new times / Now it’s rough times/ I’m out here on front lines just tryna make sure that I see him sometimes. It’s breaking my spirit / A single father, I hate when I hear it.”
