Drake Drops $100k Bail Out Donation For George Floyd Protesters

By Whitney Vasquez

Drake is the latest celebrity to put his money where his mouth is. The "Toosie Slide" rapper just revealed he donated $100k to help those arrested while protesting George Floyd's murder. Taking to his Instagram on Monday, June 1, the 33-year-old superstar posted his receipt showing that he dropped the six-digit amount to those in need of bailing out. Black Lives Matter protests have been organized all over the country, and even overseas, all sparked over the death of the 46-year-old unarmed man.

Taking Action!

The fellow Toronto rapper, Mustafa the Poet, donated $400 to the cause and tagged Drake daring him to match the amount "but add 3 zeros," the "In My Feelings" rapper took action. Doing just that but adding replacing the four with a one, Drake shared a screenshot of the generous donation and tagged Mustafa while adding a rose emoji. Mustafa also tagged rapper The Weeknd urging him to donate just like Drake. As of this post, The Weeknd has yet to show his receipt.

Flashing Receipts!

Drake and Mustafa the Poet are just the latest celebrities to pledge their allegiance to those protesting. Chrissy Teigen donated a whopping $200k to those who were arrested during the protests over the weekend. The former model turned television star made her announcement on Sunday in "celebration" of whatever the MAGA night is. The term "MAGA night" began trending on Twitter after President Donald Trump used it to suggest a counter-protest in Washington D.C. "In celebration of whatever the f--- maga night is, I am committed to donating $100,000 to the bail outs of protestors across the country," Chrissy Teigen tweeted.

When someone referred to those arrested during the protests as "rioters and criminal," Chrissy Teigen couldn't help herself. "Ooo they might need more money then. Make it $200,000," she responded. Halsey has also donated to several causes but one that was to an Anti-Minneapolis Police Group made eyebrows raise. Revealing she dropped $25k to Reclaim the Block, the "Nightmare" singer explained the cause is "a grassroots group that desperately needs donations to combat the power and funds of the Minneapolis police union. I have donated $25,000."

Halsey On The Frontlines:

Halsey's donation made an even bigger statement when she put her body on the line as a protester herself. As The Blast reported, the star swarmed the streets to join a peaceful protest in Los Angeles, CA but it turned dangerous when police started firing rubber bullets in the crowd. Taking to social media, Halsey claimed she was struck twice by rubber bullets. "We were peaceful, hands up, not moving, not breaching the line," the singer said of the situation. Protests are still going on right now in Los Angeles ahead of the tonight's citywide curfew.
