Dove Cameron spoke out about making more "Descendants" movies without her late co-star Cameron Boyce following his sudden death. After the 20-year-old passed away on July 6, Disney shelved all plans for a fourth film in the franchise and if Dove Cameron had her way she would keep it like that. Appearing at Frozen the Musical at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre on Friday night, the 23-year-old starlet talked to Hollywood Life about continuing with the franchise and explained how it would likely not work without Cameron Boyce.

“What happened was so incredibly heart wrenching for all of us and something we could not recover from,” she told the outlet. “And so, I think that the idea of making another movie while it would be nostalgic for all of us, and while it would be healing in a lot of ways, it might also be super wrong. So it could go either way and it depends on how we’re all feeling and I think that the beautiful thing that Disney has done is that they have very much created a safe space for the cast to be wherever they’re at. They canceled everything when Cameron passed and I know they want what’s in all of our best interests, so we’ll see," Dove Cameron stated. She added, "I doubt it, but we’ll see.”

The duo appeared side by side in all three "Descendants" movies together. The films also included Sofia Carson and Boo Boo Stewart. Cameron Boyce played Cruelle de Vil’s son Carlos. The third "Descendants" came out in August, just one month after the actor's death. Dove Cameron was extremely close with her co-star and broke down on social media while reading a letter she wrote about their friendship following his passing. Calling him an "Earth angel," she stated, "I’ve been mostly quiet or expressive through crying. I’ve never stuttered and unable to speak before these last few days. My system is still in shock, my brain is still foggy and full of holes.”

She then turned the focus on Cameron Boyce's parents, Victor and Libby, as well as his sister, Maya. “You are all I can think about. My heart aches for you, I’m broken for you," she said. Continuing her message, Dove Cameron explained their special friendship. "Over the last six years, since he was only 14, Cameron talked me down from countless ledges, talked me through eating disorders, helped me out of a dark relationship and through endless breakdowns," she said. “Goodbye my dear, dear friend and brother. You leave behind a colossal wake, a profound chasm that can never be filled, but you also leave millions and millions of deeply impacted, hope-filled and loved-filled human beings who are who they are because of you and how you spent your brief 20 years on this Earth.”
