Dolly Parton In Tears Over Kenny Roger's Death: 'My Heart's Broken'

Dolly Parton had a hard time holding back tears when addressing the death of her dear friend Kenny Rogers. The country music icon took to her social media on Saturday morning after learning of her singing partner's passing on the news hours prior. Sitting at her home next to her piano, Dolly Parton held up a photo with Kenny Rogers and got choked up when speaking about their decades-long friendship. The announcement of his death was made on Kenny Roger's official Twitter account, revealing the country singer passed away last night at the age of 81.

Addressing the news of his death, Dolly Parton said she learned of Kenny Roger's passing on television. “Well, I couldn’t believe it this morning when I got up, turned on the TV, checking to see what the coronavirus was doing and they told me that my friend and singing partner Kenny Rogers had passed away,” Dolly Parton said in her emotional video. "I know that we all know that Kenny’s in a better place than we are today but I’m for sure he’s going to be talking to God some time today if he’s ain’t already, and going to be asking him to spread some light onto this darkness going on here."

Dolly Gets All Choked Up:


“I loved Kenny with all my heart and my heart’s broken and a big ole chunk has gone with him today," Dolly Parton continued. “I think that I can speak for all his family, his friends, his fans, when I say that I will always love you," she added referencing one of her hits. Getting choked up, Dolly Parton held up her photo with Kenny Rogers and told her fans she "Just happened to have this picture of us when I walked out this morning and I thought well, maybe I’ll hold that up to everybody. So I know you’re sad as I am but God bless you, Kenny. Fly high straight to the arms of God and to the rest of you, keep the faith.”

With tears in her eyes, the country singer said, “You never know how much you love somebody until they’re gone." She added, “I’ve had so many wonderful years and wonderful times with my friend Kenny, but above all the music and the success I loved him as a wonderful man and a true friend." Ending her tribute, Dolly Parton said, "So you be safe with God and just know that I will always love you, dolly.” Fellow country legend Reba McEntire left Dolly Parton a sweet comment on her video, writing, "Dolly he sure loved you. What a character. There never has been and never will be another one like him."
