Demi Lovato seems to be in positive spirits about her ex-boyfriend of six years, Wilmer Valderrama, getting engaged this week. The 39-year-old actor proposed to his girlfriend, model Amanda Pacheco, after dating for just several months.

A course close to Lovato said that she is happy for them.

"[She is] happy for Wilmer if he's happy. She always wants the best for him in life and is glad he has found love," the source told E! News.

"They will always be friends and have a special place in each other's hearts," the source continued. "But she also realized he wasn't going to be her life partner and she's known that for a while. She moved on from that and has been going in a different direction. She wishes him all the best though."

Lovato and Valderrama ended their romance in 2016 with a joint public statement.

"After almost six loving and wonderful years together, we have decided to end our relationship," they wrote in a statement posted on both of their social media accounts. "This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends. We will always be supportive of one another. Thank you to everyone who has offered us kindness and support over the years. With only love, Wilmer and Demi."

Valderrama was a big support system for Lovato in 2018 after she suffered a drug overdose. They two were photographed that year getting lunch together which sparked rumors that they were back together. Those proved to be false, however.

Valderrama and his new fiancee seem very much in love, and she spoke to Entertainment Tonight about their relationship:

"I gotta say that I am very happy in my life. In this very moment I feel like, it's so interesting, you work so far for so long and you feel like all of a sudden you're starting over again," she said.

"And in my career, specifically in my personal life, I am very happy where I am at. I think that I have grown up to be the man that I am meant to be. I am the most grounded that I've ever been. I'm the most excited and the most energetic about what's ahead of me. I'm ready for the next chapter."
