Damon Dash Says He's Still Friends With Lee Daniels After $5 Million Lawsuit

By TheBlast Staff

Damon Dash is not one to let a $5 million lawsuit break up a good friendship.

Dash was leaving the National Film And Television Awards Ceremony at Globe Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday night when he was asked if he and Lee Daniels would be friends again after their legal drama.

"Yeah, we're friends now," Dash responded. "We're good. We stick together."

As The Blast first reported, Dash sued Daniels for $5 million, claiming the two had an agreement that called for Dash to get a co-executive producing credit on a Richard Pryor project and also 5% of profits Daniels would make on the backend.

Dash dropped the lawsuit late last month.

Back in 2014, Damon Dash sued Lee Daniels for $25 million over their dispute involving the ownership rights to "Precious," "The Butler" and the television show "Empire." The music mogul claimed to have loaned the director $2 million in 2004, in exchange for rights to certain films.

Earlier this year, Dash was seen approaching Daniels at a Diana Ross concert and the two engaged in a heated discussion over the money that was owed. In the video, it appears Daniels promised to repay the money.
