As the coronavirus continues to spread at an alarming rate, more and more confirmed cases are hitting the news. The latest celebrity to contract the disease is country music legend John Prine, the singer and musician behind classic songs like “Clay Pigeons” and “Angel From Montgomery.”
Prine’s family posted on his social media, updating his fans about his condition:
“After a sudden onset of Covid-19 symptoms, John was hospitalized on Thursday (3/26). He was intubated Saturday evening, and continues to receive care, but his situation is critical.
This is hard news for us to share. But so many of you have loved and supported John over the years, we wanted to let you know, and give you the change to send on more of that love and support now. And know that we love you, and John loves you.”

“I’m asking you to please stay at home. That’s all. The government can help, and I think they are really starting to really figure out that this is serious, this is life and death for God knows how many Americans. They can help, but, honestly, it is truly in our hands.
Following her diagnosis, Fiona self-quarantined.
“But what’s important now is that I’m not going to spread this. I’m not going to be responsible for passing this onto someone, least of all my husband.”
The news of Prine’s condition hit social media hard, causing the singer to trend on Twitter with thousands of people pouring out their best wishes for his recovery. Tons of celebrities shared their love of the singer and his work.
Emmy Rossum: “Sending the most wonderful healing thoughts to John Prine. Angel from Montgomery is close to my heart. #stayhome #COVIDー19”
Patton Oswalt: “g-ddamit if we lose john prine i swear to f-cking GOD”
Mark Hamill: “Get well soon John!”
Jason Isbell: “Sending our love to each of y’all. Hoping for the best.”
