Congressman Sean Duffy Stepping Down Due to Unborn Child's Health Issues

By Gary Trock

Former "Real World" star, and current congressman, Sean Duffy, is stepping down from office after he announced a serious family emergency.

Duffy, who appeared on "The Real World: Boston" in 1997, is married to fellow "Real World" star Rachel Campos, who was featured on the San Francisco season of the MTV reality show.

On Monday, Duffy announced, "Next to marrying Rachel, representing you – the people and families of Wisconsin’s 7th District - in Congress has been the highest honor of my life."

He explains that,

"Recently, we’ve learned that our baby, due in late October, will need even more love, time, and attention due to complications, including a heart condition. With much prayer, I have decided that this is the right time for me to take a break from public service in order to be the support my wife, baby and family need right now."

Duffy writes that stepping down was not an easy decision, but that it was the right decision he needed to make for his family.

He plans on officially stepping down from office on September, 23.

Even though the reality star turned politician won't be in the public eye, he writes that, "I am also looking forward to having more time with my family, being home for more birthdays and hockey games, and having time to enjoy and care for our new baby girl, who is already so loved by our family."
