Colin Kaepernick Settles Grievance Case with the NFL

By TheBlast Staff

Colin Kaepernick's war with the NFL is over after the former quarterback's attorney announced a settlement.

Kaepernick, along with Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid, settled an ongoing battle with the NFL over collusion grievances against the league and NFL owners from allegedly trying to block him from playing.

"For the past several months, counsel for Mr. Kaepernick and Mr. Reid have engaged in an ongoing dialogue with representatives of the NFL," a statement read from attorneys Mark Geragos and Ben Meisalas.

"As a result of those discussions, the parties have decided to resolve the pending grievances. The resolution of this matter is subject to a confidentiality agreement so there will be no further comment by any party."

Kaepernick's legal war with the NFL began after the former San Francisco 49ers QB took a knee during the National Anthem to protest racial inequality and police brutality. He claimed that as a result of the protest, he was kept from suiting up on another team.

After the settlement was announced, the NFLPA said they "support the decision of the players and their counsel," adding, "We are glad that Eric has earned a job and a new contract, and we continue to hope that Colin gets his opportunity as well."
