Chrissy Teigen is about to have a very awkward Thanksgiving because her father just filed to divorce her mother.
According to court records obtained by The Blast, Ronald Teigen filed for a dissolution of marriage Tuesday in Los Angeles against Vilailuck Teigen.
The documents state there are no minor children involved, as Ronald and Vilailuck have both Chrissy and another daughter, Tina.
It’s unclear what caused the split between the two, but Vilailuck has lived with Chrissy and John Legend for quite some time at their Beverly Hills mansion, and she’s regularly featured on Chrissy’s social media, especially when it comes to cooking.
In 2018, Chrissy opened up about her mom living with the famous couple despite her dad living around the corner. “So my mom lives with us,” the model confirmed stated, “but everybody is like, ‘Where’s your dad?’” Answering her own question, she responded, “He comes by every day and they’re married. It just works for them. It’s a good family life. We’re all very close, very tight–knit.”
Chrissy has appeared very close with her parents over the years and was even walked down the aisle by her father when she tied the knot with Legend in 2013. On his last birthday, Chrissy sent her father wishes and shared a bunch of photos from her wedding day.
“Happy birthday to my wonderful papa!!! The last photo is my favorite!!”
Vilailuck, who is Thai, became a U.S. citizen in October 2018, is also very close to both of Chrissy’s children — Luna, 3, and Miles, 1.
Vilailuck’s nickname on social media is “Pepper Thai,” because of her fondness for spicy Thai dishes, many of which Chrissy has replicated for her own cooking career.
Her mom once explained, “I love hot food, and my name is kind of long. Every time I eat, I have to have peppers or something spicy. Sometimes we even have a contest to see who can eat hotter, and I always win.”
Chrissy Teigen was born in Delta, Utah to her Thai mother and Norwegian father. Ronald worked as an electrician while she was growing up, and the family moved multiple times, including Hawaii, Idaho and Washington. The family eventually settled down in Huntington Beach, CA.
Vilailuck has amassed a huge following on social media and regularly showcases her Thai cooking. She regularly features Luna in her posts and shares photos centered around her Thai culture.
Like his daughter, Ronald is also involved in social media and loves to talk about politics. Also like Chrissy, he appears to have a disdain for President Donald Trump and regularly drops a hot take on the big news of the day.
Both of Chrissy’s parents are extremely supportive of her career as a model and a champion for her family. Even when Chrissy has graced the covers of Sports Illustrated, her dad has been her #1 fan.
Vilailuck once shared a photo of her husband appreciating their daughter’s hard work, and jokingly wrote, “Proud Dad.”
Earlier this year, when Chrissy and John’s son, Miles, began walking, Ronald made sure to comment how “proud” he was of his grandson.
It’s unclear how the split will affect the homelife of the Teigen’s, but something tells us they’ll be able to make it work.
