Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber is voicing his opinion about the movie _Cats_, and it's not a pleasant one.

Webber was interviewed by the "Sunday Times" recently, and said the movie was "ridiculous," citing director Tom Hooper as one of the reasons the movie flopped.

Webber composed "Cats," which hit London theaters back in 1981 and was a runaway hit. He also composed "Phantom Of the Opera" and "Les Miserables." All three are award-winning musicals and will likely be his legacy.

When Hooper's movie version of Cats premiered in December, 2019, it was a commercial failure, and the reviews were harsh.

The movie was panned for myriad reasons, including the special effects.

Hooper even had the chance to correct some of the visuals. Feedback from early screenings pointed to poor special effects surrounding the humanoid felines, and Hooper knew this.

He said he was "actually quite grateful" to hear the opinion. Hooper then tried to channel the critiques, reworking “every single cat to some extent, whether small or large.”

But the cat visuals still freaked out audiences, and the movie continued to tank.

“The problem with the film was that Tom Hooper decided, as he had with 'Les Mis', that he didn’t want anybody involved in it who was involved in the original show," Webber says in his interview with "The Times."

"The whole thing was ridiculous," he added.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the movie garnered eight Razzie Award nominations. Actress Dame Judi Dench was one of the recipients.

Actors like Idris Elba, Taylor Swift, Jason Derulo, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, and plenty of other top-notch stars also appeared. The movie didn't do any of them any favors.

James Corden and Rebel Wilson, appearing at the 2020 Oscars in February, both also shaded the movie.

Hooper didn't seem all that fazed at the critical slamming he got for Cats:

“I didn’t think it was going to be a big deal, and it was obviously much more of a big deal than I thought. Reading some of the commentary was pretty entertaining."

There was a running joke on Twitter about watching Cats while smoking marijuana. Seth Rogan tried it out and documented the experience in a series of live-tweets.

Besides Rogan's publicized trip, there was another discussion about why Hooper decided to show female cats still with their human breasts.

"There is SO MUCH to unpack in that trailer I'm struggling with where to begin but I think it has to be taylor swift as a cat with boobs sprinkling drugs on her peers from some kind of golden banana suspended from the ceiling wearing nothing but these horrendous high heeled shoes," wrote @leahalcohol in July 2019.

At least people won't soon forget Cats.
