Cardi B was blindsided when Nicki Minaj changed her verse on "Motorsport," despite what Nicki claims.

According to our sources, Cardi B was "ambushed" when the song — which featured Migos, Cardi B, and Nicki Minaj —officially dropped because the version she heard previously was different.

As for why the changes happened, Nicki claims she was pressured by the record label (at Cardi's request) to change the lyric, tweeting on Thursday: "How can you say someone changed their verse & forget to say Quavo TOLD me to remove my singing part (which I loved) & Atlantic told me to remove your name from my verse per your request? So how were those changes gonna happen if I didn’t 'change' my verse?"

There were a few changes made to the verse, but the most glaring was the line "If Cardi B the QB/ I’m Nick Lombardi" — Cardi was changed to Quavo.

Cardi referenced “MotorSport” in an interview with Capital XTRA last year, saying, “When I heard the track, her verse wasn’t finished. It was not the verse it was right now. Quavo told me to get on the song. I felt like it was a perfect opportunity to be big like them.”

Nicki gave an interview to Apple Music's Beats 1 radio that was released this week, where she seemed to say Cardi was ungrateful to Nicki: "When I first came in the game, if a female of [my] stature had done a feature with me on it, I would only be singing their praises and saying thank you."

Our sources say Cardi was appreciative and said as much in an interview last November.

The timing of all this is rather interesting — Cardi's album dropped last week and Nicki released two new songs yesterday.
