Cameron Dallas Claims Self-Defense After Arrest for Assault

Social media star Cameron Dallas is speaking out about his assault arrest this weekend and claiming he acted in self-defense.
According to the Aspen Police Department, Dallas was arrested early Saturday morning in Aspen on a second-degree assault charge, which is a felony. He posted $5,000 bond and was released.
Police say they responded to the Hyatt Residences Grand Aspen hotel at 5:10 AM. Officers discovered a man bleeding from injuries to his face. The man told police he had been assaulted and they later arrested Dallas, who was also staying at the hotel.
On Monday, Cameron Dallas tweeted his own mugshot and tried to explain what happened.
"Unfortunately sometimes in life you find yourself in a situation where you have to protect yourself and the people you care about," he wrote. "[H]ave a safe and happy new year, 2019 is going to be an amazing one."
He is due back in court later this month.
