Destructive Brush Fires

A wealthy Pacific Palisades neighborhood was under attack from a series of wildfires in California.

Firefighters responded to a brush fire around 10:30 a.m. on Monday that quickly ballooned to 40 acres later that day.

Celebrities Affected

Reese Witherspoon, Adam Levine, J.J. Abrams and Ray Liotta are among the celebrities with homes here affected by the wildfires.

April Love Geary, who shares a home with singer Robin Thicke, also posted video of heavy smoke. Their home was destroyed by wildfires last year.

Homes Evacuated

The "Los Angeles Times" reports that the Los Angeles Fire Department sought the evacuation of about 200 homes, mostly out of an abundance of caution since heavy smoke and firefighting aircraft were blanketing the area.

According to Fox News:

"Thanks to the efforts of firefighters and homeowners armed with garden hoses, no structures or houses were damaged and the evacuation order was lifted shortly after 8 p.m."

'Winds In the Area Are Shifting'

“Smoke from the fire in Pacific Palisades right now,” said singer and actress Cassie Ventura, who posted videos on Instagram stories.

Ventura's husband, Alex Fine, also posted a photo of heavy smoke in the area.

“Winds in the area are shifting,” says Assistant Chief Patrick Butler. “Right now, our big concern is probability of ignition.”
