Ava DuVernay & Other Celebs Shook Over California Earthquake

By Gary Trock

As many famous Americans were getting ready to begin their 4th of July festivities in Southern California ... the ground started shaking!

At 10:33 AM a 6.6 magnitude earthquake hit near Ridgecrest, CA, according to the United States Geological Survey.

As many native Californians are well versed in dealing with earthquakes, other famous residents immediately took to social media to talk about the shaking.

Martin Lawrence equated the quake to having a morning cup of coffee.

"When They See Us" director Ava Duvernay said, "Been living in Los Angeles all my life. That was the longest earthquake I've ever experienced."

She admitted it wasn't "jerky," but more "smooth and rolling."

DuVernay also gave a shoutout to Mother Nature, and wrote, "She's the boss."

Actress Lucy Hale is from Tennessee, where they don't have too many earthquakes.

She was literally "shook" by the early morning event, writing, "that s**t was super long, I'm shook. Literally."

"Pretty Little Liars" star Janel Parrish Long got in on the shaky conversation, and just wrote, "HOLY EARTHQUAKE."

The Blast

The stars sure felt the tectonic plates shifting, even though the epicenter of the quake occurred 121 miles northeast of Los Angeles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

After the initial earthquake, aftershocks measuring 4.0 and 3.5 went down near the same area.

The area is also near a desert test range at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division at China Lake.

But, that's probably just a coincidence...
