The #B99 Fam Is Having a Good Day

It's been reported that the NBC buddy cop comedy_Brooklyn Nine-Nine_ has been picked up for an eighth season, which is very, very noice news for fans.

The comedy originally centered around New York City police detective Jake Peralta, played by Andy Samberg, and the rest of the gang in the 99th Precinct.

As the series progressed, the show pivoted away from only covering Peralta's character development and expanded to make itself an ensemble show.

Dan Goor, one of the show's producers, took to Twitter to announce the good news, saying "Look what happened!!!"

He then went on to thank the rest of the show's staff and its loyal viewers.

"Thank you to everyone who works on the show and everyone who watches it!!! You are all amazing human beings."

Video was circulating on Twitter that shows the cast and crew at a table read, getting the news that there will be a Season 8. Cheers erupted from the room as it was announced that NBC wanted them back.

This renewal situation is not exactly like the last time the show was in jeopardy in 2018.

At that time, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was brought back from the brink at the last possible minute, just as its Season 5 was wrapping up.

Its sixth season was its first on NBC. It was originally on Fox, who kept bumping its schedule around.

Survival Of the Species

Deadline has written some statistics on this show's continuing hardiness in a business where many shows are constantly hanging by a thread:

"After 35 days of linear and digital delayed viewing, the show last season grew to a 3.1 rating in 18-49 and 6.4 million viewers overall, with 59% of that 18-49 rating coming from nonlinear sources – the #1 biggest digital percentage for an NBC series last season."

What this basically means is that Brooklyn Nine-Nine continues to be a hit, whether you wait to watch each episode or you binge a bunch of it on the streaming site Hulu.

The show has had minimal cast changes. As far as we know, all but one series regular will be back.

Chelsea Peretti, who played Gina Linetti through Season 6, announced her departure several months ago. But it hasn't been ruled out that she could return in a cameo-type role.

Speaking of that, another distinguishing feature about the show has been its cameo spots from guest and recurring characters, played by actors like Dean Winters as The Vulture; Kyra Sedgwick as Madeline Wuntch; Roger Peralta, Jake's dad, played by Bradley Whitford; and Jason Mantzoukas as Adrian Pimento.
